Teenagers, regardless of background, face choices that can positively or negatively influence their lives. The Y helps teens and their families to reach new heights and is committed to programs that offer character development, citizenship, leadership and service.

 

Y Logo Summer Hoops

SUMMER 2023

Join us this summer for some basketball, fellowship, and camaraderie!

Summer Hoops is a free program open for all teens ages 12 - 16.

  • A legal guardian MUST register teen(s) at the branch to participate.
  • Free Lunch (Pizza and Drinks)
  • Guest Speakers (on selected weeks).
  • Every Friday in June and July!
    • June: 9th,16th, 23rd, 30th
    • July: 7th, 14th, 21st,28th 
    • TIME: 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM 

 

Teen Camps

Through different weekly themes, teens are inspired and empowered as they experience traditional camp as they swim, work in teams, play fun games and make new friends.

Teens will also have the opportunity to learn and grow by participating in:

  • Listening to professional speakers
  • Participating in educational components such as robotics and arts
  • Planning and volunteering with various service projects

Our goal is for teens to learn to work together, learn new skills, gain better decision making and conflict resolution skills, while discovering something new about themselves.

Teen Outside/Overnight Camps

Teens are invited to a summer of adventure at one of our three outdoor camps. They will have the opportunity to partake in wakeboarding, rock climbing, ziplining and more. Join the fun this summer!

For teens ages 12-18.

FITNESS PROGRAMS FOR TEENS

The YMCA provides special classes for teens that want to learn the basics of fitness and proper usage of our fitness equipment.


EDUCATION COURSES

The Lake Highlands Family YMCA offers many classes that educate and assist the community in leading through knowledge. Sign up for one of our many education courses.

ADULT OR TEEN (11-19) CPR/AED/BASIC FIRST AID

Learn how to save a life at the Lake Highlands Family YMCA! This amazing training educates individuals on appropriate protocol. All CPR classes are held at our Lake Highlands facility.  This is a Heartsaver course geared towards the general public and is not for nurses or other people who may need a Healthcare provider class. Students will learn basic First Aid and CPR for infants, children, and adults. AED instruction is also included.

The class is certified through ASHI (American Safety and Health Institute).

Private classes are available for groups of 6 or more.

Class must have 4 registrations for class to be held.

Come into the branch to register for CPR Classes.

 

CHILD AND BABYSITTING SAFETY (CABS)   11 to 15 years old

Jump ahead of other babysitters in your neighborhood! This training program is designed to focus on supervising, caring for, and keeping children and infants safe in babysitting settings.

The program provides fundamental information in the business of babysitting, proper supervision, basic care giving skills, and responding properly to ill or injured children or infants.

The class is certified through ASHI (American Safety and Health Institute).  Private classes (Girl Scout Troops or Youth Groups) are available for groups of 6 or more.  Class must have 4 registrations for class to be held.

Cost: Membership Rate: $60 | Non-Membership Rate $75  Maximum of 10 participants in each class.

Come into the branch to register for the CABS classes.
