ABOUT MUN

Since 2015, YMCA Texas Model United Nations has served hundreds of middle school and high school teens as a youth development program that builds competencies such as effective relationship building, servant leadership, positive communication and collaboration, while simulating the United Nations. As member states, students come together at conferences to solve pressing global problems with the art of compromise and diplomacy. Join us and change your world.

HISTORY

Originally piloted under the umbrella of Texas Youth and Government in 2010, Model United Nations launched on its own conference in 2015, hosted by the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas that welcomed delegates from YMCA MUN clubs from around the state. This program and its events allow young global leaders the opportunity to not only meet others with similar interests, but also to develop their leadership abilities, hone their speaking prowess, train critical thinking and conflict resolution skills, all while becoming better people and better leaders.

IMPACT

"Model United Nations has helped me in so many ways... It's really inspired me to get involved on a global level." - MUN Participant

Students gain real-world knowledge about research, writing, and public speaking - and, through practice and hard work, develop the confidence they need to shine. TXMUN program alumni go on to do great things in their communities, prepared with a global understanding of today's most pressing problems and a foundation for developing innovative solutions.
