What is the Fitness Challenge?
During a three-week time period from October 19 through November 13, Fitness Challenge participants (age 10 and up) will log and track every workout they do at the Y in the Map My Fitness app. The top three male and top three female participants with the most time logged at the end of the Fitness Challenge will be awarded fabulous prizes!
The Fitness Challenge begins at 5:30 a.m. Monday, October 19, and concludes at 11:59 p.m. Friday, November 13, and includes a Fitness Expo Celebration Saturday, November 14.
All you have to do is register ($30) and download the app to get started. You can register and begin at any time during the Fitness Challenge period.
Join us for the Fitness Expo
We will celebrate the completion of the Fitness Challenge with a fantastic party! And not just any party - a Fitness Expo party! The celebration will be from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, November 14th, at the J.E.R. Chilton YMCA at Rockwall.
We will announce the Fitness Challenge winners and award prizes. You do not need to be present to win; however, you do need to be there to collect your event t-shirt and goody bag!
This expo is a perfect opportunity for everyone to learn what types of fitness classes we offer at the YMCA, as well as showcasing new formats that have taken the fitness industry by storm! You'll be able to experience:
Irish Step Dance
Sock Hop Dance
In addition to the exciting fitness classes, we will have several community health and wellness booths, games, event shirts and goody bags! DJ Swirvin' Irvin will also be in the house!
Everyone is Welcome!
Everyone is welcome to attend the Fitness Expo Celebration and experience the classes, even if you did not participate in the Fitness Challenge. Pay $30 at the door, benefitting the J.E.R. Chilton YMCA at Rockwall’s Angel Camp for children with special needs, and help shape the future of fitness at your Y!
One of the games featured will be a “pin the tail” inspired game where you get to “pin the class” on an empty class schedule. The class formats with the most popularity at the pinned times will be tested with the January 2016 class schedule!
Here at the J.E.R. Chilton YMCA, we like to try new things and keep up with the ever-changing fitness industry!
Cost and Registration
Cost: The cost is $30 for both members and non-members. The Fitness Challenge and Expo Celebration are both open to everyone ages 10 and up, regardless of whether or not you are a member of the J.E.R. Chilton YMCA.

Christian Corneau's Story
Christian Corneau, son of Max and Michelle Corneau of Rockwall, died on Nov. 8, 2006 at the age of 14, after being struck by a car while skateboarding near his home.
Christian played trumpet in the Orange Wave Marching Band, was enrolled in the Gifted and Talented program and served on the Student Council at Rockwall High School. As a freshman, he was voted “Most Unique” – and for good reason.
His sense of style and fashion set him apart, as did his adventurous soul and his taste in music. He played guitar, enjoyed reading, writing, running, photography, snowboarding and skateboarding. He was also a member of Boy Scout Troop 83, as well as the Rockwall YMCA.
“He was sensitive and caring, always concerned about the well being of others. In the short time he was alive, he lived life to the fullest – always with abundant passion. And he gave the best hugs,” says Michelle. “He had a way of holding on to you and not letting go that made you feel the sincerity of his embrace.”
The family cites the following quote by Maya Angelou as the way in which Christian continues to touch the lives of everyone he met: “A great soul serves everyone all the time. A great soul never dies. It brings us together again and again.”
In year’s past, supporters have participated in the Christian Corneau Memorial Run, hosted by the J.E.R. Chilton YMCA in his honor. This is the inaugural year for the Corneau Fitness Challenge, and everyone is encouraged to participate, whether you are a YMCA member not.
Benefitting Angel Camp
All proceeds go toward the J.E.R Chilton YMCA at Rockwall’s Angel Camp program for children with special needs. You’ll be helping to ensure that local kids with special needs have access to summer day camp activities like horseback riding, swimming, canoeing, sailing, and field trips.
