MEET PAUL WACHSMAN

Paul

If you have been to the Semones Family YMCA pre-Covid, you know should Paul Wachsman, a dedicated YMCA volunteer for over seven years. While Paul volunteers at many organizations, he is known at the Semones Y for greeting members like family and his “never met a stranger”, positive attitude. Everyone who knows Paul knows that he is highly motivated, committed, and accomplished – he is an Eagle Scout, Jesuit Football Team Manager, and a Texas Special Olympics Swimming multi-medalist. But perhaps one of his most enthusiastic endeavors is as a fundraiser for our Annual Scholarship Campaign, raising money to ensure that income is not a barrier for anyone in our community to be a part of our Y family.

Over the past several years, Paul has raised $29,382 for our mission since becoming a campaigner in 2015. Since Covid, Paul and his family have been sheltering at home. As Annual Campaign season approached, we were unsure of how successful Paul’s fundraising efforts would be. In a typical year, he is always a staple at our phone banks, and perhaps his biggest success has been from asking members in person as they come to work out – it’s hard to say no to Paul. However, Paul surprised us all by not only continuing his tradition of being our most enthusiastic campaigner, but by surpassing his previous fundraising efforts and having raised over $8,800 to date! Needless to say, we are so proud of all that he has done, and continues to do, to support our community. There’s no one quite like Paul!
