DFW YMCA’S TEAMING UP TO RAISE OVER $294,000 FOR NORTH TEXAS COMMUNITIES

Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, TexasYMCAs in Dallas, Fort Worth and Arlington are coming together for YMCA Day of Giving, a one-day giving event geared to providing an opportunity to give to your local Y across the DFW Metroplex.  Collectively, the goal is to raise over $100,000. This is the first time that all three YMCAs – YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas, YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth and the Arlington-Mansfield Area YMCA – are joining forces for a philanthropy event. The event will take place on Tuesday, March 5th and you can visit any Y in the metroplex to donate in-person or you can choose to donate online at www.ymcadayofgiving.org.

YMCA Day of Giving was launched in Dallas last year, with a goal of $40,000. By the end of the day, more than 700 individual donations totaling nearly $87,000 was given.  The day showcased how local communities can come together to help support the Y and its impact in the community.

YMCA Day of Giving was created by the YMCA of Northwest North Carolina where Curt Hazelbaker (current President and CEO of the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas since 2017), was the President and CEO for 9 years.

“The Day of Giving is a terrific way to rally behind the important work being done daily at Ys throughout the area. The community embraced the effort last year and we know they will again this year.” stated Curt Hazelbaker, President & CEO, YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas.

Donations to the YMCA Day of Giving, will support the Y’s community outreach and programs including:

  • Camps
  • Safety Around Water
  • Youth & Government
  • Youth Sports
  • Healthy Living
  • After School

"YMCA Day of Giving gives us the ability to serve more individuals with crucial healthy living and youth development programs. The YMCA is an organization for all and generous donors help us keep that promise." said Tony Shuman, Chief Executive Officer and President of YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth.

The YMCA’s in Dallas, Fort Worth and Arlington-Mansfield are working together to make a difference in the community. Collectively, the three Ys serve over 325,000 people and raise over $6 Million each year through financial support from donors, volunteers, members and generous people in the community.

“The Day of Giving helps to ensure that our YMCA remains an organization that is “open to all” members of our community,” Eric Tucker, President & CEO of Arlington Mansfield Area YMCA stated. “It also helps us to meet critical community needs through our core focus areas in youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.”
