BMW Dallas Marathon celebrates the 4th of July with new patriotic run

DALLAS (May 17, 2018) - Registration for the first running of the Five on the 4th, benefiting the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas, launched today at BMWDallasMarathon.com. Hosted by the Dallas Marathon, Five on the 4th is a five-mile run accompanied by additional family-friendly events, starting and ending at Klyde Warren Park on the morning of July 4th, 2018.

Registration opened at $39 per participant and includes an event shirt, a finisher medal and entry into the post-race party. The morning will be filled with events for every member of the family, starting with a 5-mile run at 8 a.m. The 5-mile course starts and ends at Klyde Warren Park in Downtown Dallas and will wind through the beautiful Uptown and Turtle Creek neighborhoods. The main event will be followed by a 2-mile pet and family walk starting at 8:45 a.m. and a 5-mile family bike ride at 9:45 a.m. Following the family bike ride, there will be kid’s races of varying lengths, including 100m, 400m, and 800m.

We are excited to once again expand our program calendar and grow our presence in Dallas’ running community,” said Paul Lambert, president of the BMW Dallas Marathon, which in addition to this event added a Corporate 5K earlier this year. “We hope to see whole families, pets included, participating together in what’s sure to be a memorable Independence Day experience.”

“The Dallas YMCA appreciates the BMW Dallas Marathon recognizing the good work that the YMCA does in the community for families and children. We are very excited to be a part of this new event. “says Curt Hazelbaker, President and CEO of the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas.

The Dallas Marathon has been a part of the D-FW running community for nearly 50 years and Five on the 4thmarks a significant expansion in the organization’s programming. For the first time this year the organization is growing to include events outside of the December Marathon weekend.

Five on the 4th will be held on July 4th, 2018 at 8 a.m. at Klyde Warren Park. Additional onsite activities and entertainment will be announced closer to the event. Visit BMWDallasMarathon.com/five-on-the-4th/ for additional details about this race and other Dallas Marathon events.
