In a growing community like Waxahachie, health is more than doctor visits or treatment. It is about having places where people can move, connect, and thrive together. That belief is at the heart of the Waxahachie Family YMCA Capital Campaign.

Community leaders across Waxahachie see the Y as a vital part of that future, including capital campaign donor Will Turner, who believes investing in shared spaces for wellness is one of the most meaningful ways to give back.

A YMCA Built for a Growing Community

Waxahachie continues to grow, but what makes it special is its close-knit, hometown feel. As Will describes it, this is a place where neighbors still run into each other at the grocery store and where community truly matters.

The YMCA has long been part of that fabric. Through youth programs, fitness opportunities, and welcoming spaces for all ages, the Y provides something essential: a place to belong. The Capital Campaign builds on that foundation by expanding and improving facilities so the YMCA can continue serving families now and for generations to come.

“You think about whether there are opportunities for families and people to get out, engage, and get healthy,” Will shared. “Seeing the vision for this project, it’s clear how special this facility is going to be for our community.”

Why This Investment Matters

Will was inspired to support the Capital Campaign because of the YMCA’s focus on prevention, wellness, and connection, values that strengthen the entire community.

“Health and wellness is one of the greatest gifts you can give,” he said. “To do that, you need great facilities and great opportunities.”

The expansion will create accessible spaces for physical activity, education, and community engagement, helping people build healthy habits that last a lifetime.

“When people are healthier, that’s a good thing for everyone,” Will added. “The YMCA creates those opportunities in a way that really makes a difference.”

A Place for Generations

For many families, the YMCA is where lifelong memories begin. Will reflected on his own experiences growing up at the Y and the lasting impact those moments can have.

“You want kids and families to have places to learn teamwork, stay active, and have fun,” he shared. “This project creates that opportunity for generations to come.”

Will’s generous gift to the Waxahachie YMCA Capital Campaign helps ensure the Y remains a cornerstone of health, connection, and community for years ahead.
