Registration closes each week on Sunday at midnight. If you register after the deadline, your child’s enrollment will begin the following week. This weekly deadline helps us plan appropriately for staffing, snacks, and curriculum needs. Spots do fill up, so don't delay and register today!

We require a two weeks' written notice using this link: YMCA Afterschool Cancellation Link. You will receive an email from our Customer Support team once it has been processed. No refunds are provided for payments made prior to the fulfillment of the two week notice.

YMCA Afterschool programs are conveniently located at your child’s school, no bussing involved! The districts and campuses we serve are listed HERE.

Once you’ve confirmed that our Afterschool program is available at your school, you can register to reserve your spot on our roster! Don't delay as spaces fill quickly.

If you have any questions, contact our Customer Support Team and/or the Program Director over your district. You can find both of these contacts on the territory pages HERE.

Afterschool care is offered daily in alignment with each school district’s calendar. Programs operate from school dismissal until 6:30 p.m. Closing times may vary in select districts and can be found on the appropriate territory information page HERE.

How Afterschool Programs Work

Yes! Afterschool programs like the YMCA’s are highly effective for children. They provide a structured, enriching environment that supports academic growth, promotes physical activity, and fosters social–emotional development - all key components of whole-child development. Licensed staff maintain a low 1:15 ratio, ensuring individual attention and consistent support. The curriculum blends homework help, STEM, arts, and movement, designed in partnership with schools and teachers to build confidence, strong character, and a love of learning.

Families regularly report that kids stay engaged, complete homework, and most importantly, feel connected and cared for. Overall, YMCA afterschool programs offer a safe, supportive space where children consistently learn, grow, and thrive.

Yes! Our school age programs are licensed by the Texas Department Family & Protective Services (TDFPS) and operate at a 1:15 staff to student ratio, well below the ratio of 1 to 26 required by the state of Texas.

Programming

Every day is an adventure packed with enrichment activities that spark creativity, build confidence, and inspire curiosity. From STEM challenges to expressive arts & crafts, our programming is designed to captivate young minds. Kids stay active with fun gym games or time outdoors, while developing life skills through character-building and team-based fun.

Yes! Our after school care program includes at least 30 minutes of outdoor or indoor physical activity and movement a day.

Yes, all of our programs include a designated snack time with a healthy snack provided. If you know your child is a picky eater or tends to be especially hungry in the afternoon, you’re welcome to send an additional snack with them. We kindly ask that any snacks brought from home be nut-free to ensure the safety of children with tree nut allergies.

We offer daily, dedicated homework time for a minimum of 30 minutes. with alternatives for those without homework. We do not offer tutoring services.

Paying for Afterschool Programs

Your registration will be set up with an automatic draft that processes on the Wednesday before each week of care. You can view your scheduled payments by logging into your YMCA account and navigating to the Unpaid tab.

YMCA members receive a discounted rate on Afterschool programs, while non-members pay the standard rate. Exact fees vary by location and school district, but becoming a member can help families save on weekly costs and enjoy access to additional YMCA benefits and programs.

Please note: to receive the discounted member rate, your child(ren) must be active YMCA members. Adult-only memberships do not qualify for discounts on youth programs. You will need a membership that includes dependents. Additionally, your child must maintain an active membership during the weeks they are registered under the member pricing.

Registering for our Afterschool program enrolls your child(ren) for the entire school year. This means your enrollment secures a spot in the program for the full duration, rather than allowing week-by-week selection based on attendance needs. You are responsible for all payments through the final week of enrollment, as we plan in advance for staffing, supplies, curriculum, and more.

Yes, they are! Here are the instructions to pull your tax statement from your YMCA account!

Yes, as a non-profit organization, we offer financial assistance to ensure weekly fees are not a barrier for families in need of our care. Visit our website here to learn more about the application process and next steps.

Our childcare programming does not offer a military or first responder discount. However, YMCA memberships do qualify for a military discount, and having a membership reduces the weekly rate for our Afterschool care. Visit your local YMCA to learn more about membership benefits for the whole family!
