FRISCO EXECUTIVE TIMES - JUNE

Dear Y Members and Friends,

Incase you didn’t know, summer is here! My favorite time of year with super holidays, family getaways, long summer nights, and the crazy Texas weather. Here’s a quick update on a few activities happening here at your Frisco Y this summer.

In June, the YMCA turned 175 years old! The first Y was founded in London, England in 1844 to address social issues impacting their community. Today the Y is one of the largest nonprofit organizations in the world serving 58 million people in 119 counties. To celebrate the Y is challenging you to do 175 minutes of Spirit, Mind, and Body activities. Members that engage and complete the challenge can earn a commemorative YMCA 175th Birthday T-shirt. Check with one of our friendly Member Service Representatives for more information.

Youth Development: A great option for the kids this summer is YMCA Camp on the Lake for kids ages 6-13. This is a premier waterfront day camp environment created just for kids. Located on Lake Lewisville kids can experience horseback riding, sailing, canoeing, archery and crafts. Weekly sessions will run through August 16th. To find out more or register visit our website at www.friscoymca.org.

Healthy Living; Need a break, try our new “Intro to Meditation” class being offered here at the Y every Wednesday from 5:30pm-6:00pm. This class is a 30-minute session aimed to still the mind and release stress.

Social Responsibility: Become a volunteer! We have volunteer opportunities available for individuals looking to give back to their community through the Y. As a nonprofit, cause driven organization we need the help of many volunteers to serve in various capacities including youth sports coaches, helping with special events, serving on our Advisory Board and fundraising committee. If you have any interest in volunteering at our Y, please contact me a bmarkell@ymcadallas.org.

I hope everyone has an enjoyable summer. Remember that on your travels that your membership here at the Frisco Y will gain you access to other YMCA’s anywhere in the country!

Please visit our website www.friscoymca.org for more information about our membership and program offerings. I thank you for your continued patronage and support of our Frisco YMCA.
