Dallas YMCA CEO Honored with C-Suite Leaders Award
We are thrilled to share that Curt Hazelbaker, President and CEO of the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas, has been recognized with the prestigious 2024 C-Suite Leaders Award by the Dallas Business Journal. This award highlights the region’s top executives who exemplify leadership, vision, and community impact, and Curt’s 41-year career at the YMCA is a remarkable testament to these values.
Curt began his journey with the Y as a camp counselor at Town North Family YMCA (now Semones Family YMCA), and over four decades later, he has helped shape the Y into a beacon of hope for thousands of families across North Texas. Under Curt’s leadership, the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas continues to grow and innovate, launching impactful programs like the Summer Learning Academy, designed to help at-risk youth succeed academically, and spearheading multimillion-dollar renovations to several Y branches.
One of Curt’s significant contributions has been the establishment of executive roles to drive growth and community outreach. By appointing the first-ever Chief Growth Officer, Curt has ensured that the YMCA remains an indispensable resource in emerging communities. His passion for equitable access has led to an increase in memberships even amid construction projects, such as the Lake Highlands Family YMCA, where memberships soared by nearly 200%.
Beyond the office, Curt is a committed civic leader, participating in organizations like The Dallas Breakfast Group, The Dallas Friday Group, and The Dallas Assembly. His board membership with Trey Athletes exemplifies his dedication to developing future leaders through education and mentorship.
Curt’s humble leadership style—evident in everything from handing out Turkey Trot medals personally to meeting with community members—makes him more than just a CEO. He is a mentor, a visionary, and a servant leader committed to making North Texas a better place for all.
Please join us in congratulating Curt Hazelbaker on this well-deserved honor!
