YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas Serving Fate

The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas Foundation awarded $288,000 in scholarships to 21 North Texas high school seniors as part of its 2026 Annual College Scholarship program, recognizing students for academic achievement, financial need, and commitment to community values. The program, supported by generous donors, reflects the YMCA’s long-standing investment in education and its belief that supporting students helps strengthen the future of the community.

At 92 years old, Obie Draper continues to stay active and connected at the Semones YMCA, where he and his wife have been members for over 20 years. A proud Marine Corps veteran, Obie embodies the spirit of community through his participation in group classes, events, and the Veteran Connect program. His story is a powerful reminder that the YMCA is more than a place; it’s a welcoming community where people of all ages can belong, build relationships, and thrive.

Programs like our cooking classes help us serve the community where they are. Cooking demonstrations at Local Good Center has reached 150 since 2023, and we offer more cook demonstrations across North Texas.
