The T. Boone Pickens YMCA proudly carries the torch of the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas' commitment to downtown health and wellness. Established in 1885, the YMCA has served the area through various locations, each responding to the community's changing needs. The Pickens facility, which opened in 1982, marked a significant shift. Replacing a former parking garage, the new building embraced the growing focus on fitness. The Pickens YMCA continues to be a hub for downtown residents and workers, providing a variety of exercise classes, modern equipment, and programs that cater to all ages and fitness levels.
The YMCA is governed by a Board of Directors who holds title to all real estate and establishes overall policy providing direction to the various Branch Operations. The Board of Directors confers a broad range of authority to the Branch Boards of Management who assume responsibility for advising each YMCA.
