The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas Is Transforming North Texas Communities
Our mission at YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas is to fill the gaps that matter most to the 220,000 people we serve every year. From offering free health screenings in Lake Highlands to no-cost swim lessons in Oak Cliff or gathering volunteers for our monthly food drives, we’re expanding intentionally to meet people where they are and where they’re headed. It's about deepening our impact.
North Texas is changing. In our 140 years as a nonprofit, we know that embracing change is critical to growth.
Growing For A Purpose
From Collin County to Ellis County, and beyond, we're witnessing firsthand how quickly our cities are transforming, increasing the need for services that foster belonging and improve quality of life. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Ellis County earned a spot as one of the top 10 fastest growing counties in the country with a growth rate of nearly 5% from 2022 to 2023.
If we take a step back and look at how many other counties like Ellis have access to YMCA programs or facilities, it’s limited or nonexistent. That’s why we’re conducting feasibility studies, listening to local leaders, and exploring partnerships to expand our presence in ways that are responsive, sustainable, and driven by the people.
Partnering to Build Thriving Communities
We can’t do this alone; strong partners make stronger communities! Our growth strategy is fueled through collaboration with city governments, school districts, healthcare providers, developers, and nonprofits. Together, we’re identifying shared goals, leveraging resources, and designing solutions that mirror what families and individuals need in today’s landscape.
That could mean a new facility or renovating and expanding an existing one, wherever our path takes us, our goal remains the same: to broaden our reach and make a meaningful impact.
Looking Ahead
With increasing interest from cities eager to bring a YMCA to their neighborhoods, the future is filled with possibilities. At the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas, we’re building a healthier, stronger North Texas to empower youth, strengthen families, promote healthy living, and ensure everyone has a place where they feel connected.
