STUDENT LEADERSHIP
TXMUN is a youth-driven program that offers opportunities for student leaders to build their own leadership skills and the capacity to lead of those around them. Details on current opportunities - including staffing committees, honing your journalism skills as part of the TXMUN media team, and even running for a seat on the TXMUN Secretariat - can be found below. All those applying for these positions must have participated in Texas Model UN for at least one year and have demonstrated excellent performance, outstanding character, and a strong sense of professionalism throughout.

Fall 2025 Committee Leadership | Applications will be sent to advisors in August 2025. If you would like to apply and your delegation did not participate at TXMUN events during the 2024-2025 school year, please email pbunton@ymcadallas.org for the application.
Committee leadership (also known as committee daises) oversee the activities of each committee during a conference. TXMUN chairs and clerks become experts on our program's parliamentary procedure, research and author background guides to steer their committees, and ensure that their committees are run smoothly and professionally throughout conference. TXMUN daises are role models for all delegates, teaching and modeling committee procedure and leadership, and carry out their responsibilities in alignment with the Y Core Values. The TXMUN Media Corps produces content year-round to educate delegates on global issues, engage MUN delegates across Texas, and highlight the unique TXMUN experience. Delegates in the Media Corps provide coverage on newsworthy Texas Model UN delegates, clubs, and conferences, and play a large role in promoting the TXMUN program. Media Corps journalists work on research, video production, creating and sharing social media content and blog pieces, photography, and other aspects of media and journalism throughout the program year.
2026 - 2027 Secretariat Candidates | Applications will be accepted in spring 2026.
The Secretariat for 2025-2026 has been announced - meet our new Secretariat here! Secretariat members serve throughout the summer and following school year. The TXMUN Secretariat works alongside YMCA staff to develop the overall program, culture, and conference materials. While it is not a requirement, delegates considering running for a Secretariat position are encouraged to apply for committee leadership roles or to join the TXMUN Media Corps during the preceding program year. At least one year of TXMUN experience is required to run for a Secretariat position.
