Let's get stronger together - Livestrong at the YMCA is a 12-week physical activity program designed to help adult cancer survivors regain strength through exercise. No membership required!
Livestrong at the YMCA equips those living with, through, or beyond cancer to get back on their feet and connect with other survivors. Participants enjoy free exercise regimens catered to their individual needs. Sessions are led by certified Livestrong at the YMCA Personal Trainers.
Program Details
Our 12-week program* includes:
- Two 75 to 90-minute sessions per week
- Cardiovascular conditioning, strength training, balance and flexibility exercises
- Fitness and quality of life assessments before and after participation
- YMCA-certified instructors helping you every step of the way
*Requires medical clearance from a physician. Open to adults 18 years or older.

Livestrong FAQs
Livestrong® at the YMCA is a 12-week small-group exercise program designed specifically for adult cancer survivors. The program focuses on rebuilding strength, endurance, flexibility, and confidence after cancer treatment.
- Adult cancer survivors (18+)
- Individuals currently undergoing treatment or who have completed treatment
- Participants MUST obtain medical clearance before starting
The program is offered at no cost to participants
Participants receive a complimentary YMCA membership during the 12-week program.
- 12 weeks
- Meets twice per week
- Each session lasts about 60-75 minutes
Can join at any time during the program with the possibility of program continuation after 12-weeks (location specific)

No. This program is designed for all fitness levels. Whether you were active before treatment or are just beginning again, exercises are individualized to meet you where you are.
Many participants join during treatment. With physician clearance, the program can be modified to accommodate fatigue, neuropathy, ports, lymphedema, or other side effects.
Instructors are trained to safely progress strength training while monitoring for swelling or discomfort.
Cancer-related fatigue is common. We adjust intensity daily based on how you feel. Even light movement often helps reduce fatigue over time.
We understand that medical appointments and life happen. While consistent attendance is encouraged for the best results, occasional absences are okay.
Yes. The program is designed specifically for cancer survivors at all levels. We begin gently and progress gradually based on your comfort and ability.
No weigh-ins or body measurements are required. Progress is measured by improvements in strength, endurance, flexibility, and how you feel.
Classes are intentionally small to allow individualized attention and support.
The program is designed for cancer survivors. Caregivers are encouraged to support participants but do not participate in the structured class.
Wear comfortable workout clothing and supportive athletic shoes. Bring a water bottle and any necessary medical items.
