Children may attend for up to two hours per day, and caregivers must remain onsite at all times.

H.Y.P.E. (Healthy Youth Positively Engaged)
May 21 – August 13, 2026
During the summer months, children ages 6–10 participate in H.Y.P.E. (Healthy Youth Positively Engaged), a supervised program featuring games, activities, and active play throughout the gym, studio, playground, and outdoor spaces.
Participation in H.Y.P.E. is required for children ages 6–10 during the H.Y.P.E. season. If H.Y.P.E. is unavailable due to staffing, weather, facility schedules, or other YMCA programming, children will participate in regular ChildWatch activities.
ChildWatch Guidelines
To help provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all children, please note the following:
- Children ages 6 weeks–5 years attend ChildWatch.
- Children ages 6–10 years attend H.Y.P.E. when available; otherwise, they attend ChildWatch.
- Children under age 2 must wear socks.
- Children who are walking and older must wear closed-toe shoes.
- No outside food or drinks are permitted.
- No outside toys are permitted.
- Parents and caregivers are not permitted inside the ChildWatch room.
- Strollers, infant carriers, and similar equipment are not allowed inside the ChildWatch facility.
- Diaper bags are not permitted. Small belongings may be brought in an 8" x 11" mesh bag or zip-top bag.
- Please refer to posted ChildWatch rules and policies for additional information.
For complete policies and procedures, please pick up a ChildWatch packet at the YMCA.
Additional Family Programs
Family Memberships also provide access to special family-focused events throughout the year, including:
- Parent's Night Out
- Parent's Day Out
- Seasonal activities and special events for children
- Family-friendly programs and enrichment opportunities
These programs offer children additional opportunities to have fun, make friends, and stay active while giving caregivers flexibility and support.
See the registration page for upcoming events and to sign-up.
Safety Reminder
Children should always be under the direct supervision of a parent or caregiver, participating in ChildWatch, H.Y.P.E., or another YMCA program. For everyone's safety, please do not leave children unattended anywhere in the facility.
Basketball Court Availability
The YMCA basketball courts are shared spaces used for a variety of programs, activities, and member recreation throughout the year. Court availability may be impacted at times due to scheduled programs, special events, facility activities, or weather-related needs.
During periods of inclement weather, including rain, extreme heat, or severe weather conditions, outdoor activities may be moved indoors to ensure participant safety. When this occurs, court space may be utilized for youth programs and other YMCA activities, which can affect availability for basketball, pickleball, and open recreation.
Camps & Weather-Related Court Availability
During the summer, youth camps and seasonal programs regularly utilize YMCA facilities. When rain, severe weather, extreme heat, or other conditions require outdoor activities to move indoors, camps will relocate to the gym and court areas. As a result, basketball and pickleball courts may be partially or fully unavailable during those times. Members should anticipate reduced court availability and increased use of indoor spaces on weather-affected days throughout the summer season.
