Facility Construction Updates & Member Notices
As part of our Capital Campaign, exciting improvements are underway throughout the J.E.R. Chilton YMCA at Rockwall. While construction is in progress, some areas of the facility and parking may be temporarily impacted. Below you'll find the latest updates, notices, and what to expect during each phase of the project. Thank you for your patience as we make improvements that will better serve our members, families, and community for years to come.
Parking Lot Expansion
Phase 1 of our parking lot expansion project is currently underway.
This phase includes the construction of a new paved parking lot near the Small Fry Fields and expanded parking along the west side of the facility. Together, these improvements will significantly increase parking capacity, improve accessibility, and create a safer, more convenient arrival experience for members and guests.
When complete, members can expect substantially more parking, improved traffic flow, easier access to the facility, and newly paved parking areas designed to better accommodate our growing YMCA community.
Phase 2 will begin at a later date and will add an additional parking lot behind the facility, providing even more parking and enhancing overall access to the branch.
Current Parking Notices:
(Last Updated 7/8/2026)
To allow construction to safely continue, the following parking areas are temporarily unavailable:
- The small gravel parking lot is closed while it is being transformed into the new paved parking lot.
- Portions of the west side parking area are also temporarily affected during construction.
- Please follow all posted signage and directional guidance when arriving at the YMCA.
- Members and guests visiting for sports, aquatics, or other programs are encouraged to use the gravel parking lot or park along Caruth Lane whenever possible.
Construction in this area is expected to be completed on or around August 15 (subject to change and the parking areas may reopen sooner if work is completed ahead of schedule).
Once construction is complete, the new parking lot near the Small Fry Fields will open for member and guest parking, providing substantially more paved parking spaces and improved access to the facility.
Gymnasium Renovations
Beginning Friday, August 7, the gymnasium/basketball courts will temporarily close for planned renovations and facility improvements.
As part of our Capital Campaign, our gymnasium will undergo planned renovations, repairs and facility improvements designed to enhance the space for members and program participants. These updates will help improve the appearance, functionality, and longevity of one of our most-used areas, ensuring the gym continues to serve our community for years to come.
To complete these improvements safely and efficiently, the gymnasium will be temporarily closed beginning Friday, August 7, 2026.
Closure Details:
(Last Updated 7/8/2026)

No gym programming or open gym activities will be offered during the closure.
Other YMCA amenities, including the Wellness Center, group exercise classes, aquatics, ChildWatch, and other scheduled programs, will continue to operate as normal unless otherwise noted.
Pool & Aquatic Center Natatorium
Beginning Thursday, August 20, the pool will temporarily close as construction begins on one of the most significant projects of our Capital Campaign, the expansion and renovation of our natatorium.
When complete, the renovated facility will become a fully enclosed, year-round Aquatic Center, allowing us to expand access to swim lessons, lap swim, water exercise classes, recreational swimming, swim team activities, and lifesaving water safety programs regardless of the season. The project includes rebuilding and winterizing the roof and exterior walls, adding a new changing room, and making significant upgrades to the comfort, accessibility, and safety of the facility.

This exciting transformation will allow the YMCA to better serve families and the community with expanded aquatic programming for generations to come.
