Twenty North Texas high school seniors received $276,000 in college scholarships through the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas Foundation. Awards were based on academics, service, and financial need.
Alex was diagnosed as prediabetic and struggled with weight loss until joining the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program. Through the program, Alex learned to manage weight, understand body changes, and develop healthier habits. This journey led to a more confident and knowledgeable approach to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
After retiring, we moved from Austin to Flower Mound to be closer to our daughter and discovered the Cross Timbers Family YMCA, which became central to our new life. The YMCA offered a wealth of physical and social activities, including classes, luncheons, and a book club, fostering a strong sense of community. The "Round Tables" at the Y provided a unique space for sharing life experiences and building friendships.
In partnership with Workforce Solutions Greater Dallas, the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas has launched free career readiness services and job placement support at the Moorland Family YMCA at Oak Cliff and surrounding communities.
